Hello and Questions

Post by ameriveaux »

Hi and thank you for reading.

Allow me to get straight to the point.

1. I fail to understand and identify all of the Starwraith games. I read about a few, but to my knowledge there are several in the "Evochron" family and it seems a new one comes out every year and a half or so? I believe that "Mercenary" is the latest and most advanced in the series.

In that case, when people purchase a title of evochron, and a new one comes out, do they have to buy that one too? So if i buy Mercenary, and a new one, lets say "Commander" comes out; if i want to fly the latest and greatest i have to buy it again?

Also, i am torn between this and x3. Both seem to require a large time investment, and i cannot see myself playing both. What does Evochron offer that x3 doesnt besides multiplayer?

Forgive me if i seem brash, i would just not rather waste peoples time. If you choose to answer my aggresive questions, i thank you in advance.

Also, i am sure this information is available somewhere on the internet, and i did read the FAQ- but that did not answer these specific questions as i had them in my mind.

So if you are offended that i asked, i apologize in advance. No mean to be rude.

First of all, welcome bro!

Anyway, from all the questions you asked, there's only one thing I can answer- It's MUCH easier to get into then X3.

And as for the game itself- the trading/racing/economy mechanics aren't as fleshed out as the combat, but MAN the combat's fun. And there's always the chance of Vice upgrading those, too.
Also, another thing that's supposedly better then X3 is the whole "Fly anywhere you want without loading" aspect.

Did you try out the demo? Should give you a good taste of the game.

I have to say as one who has only been playing this game for about two weeks, I am very impressed. Compared to the X series, the learning curve is much lower. If anyone recalls playing Elite or games of its kind years ago; this game is what I wished Elite could have been. Best gaming investment I have made in a long time. Kudos to the developer; I have spent much more for much less.

:o In X3, I always felt like I was flying from one box to another box. I couldn't just point my ship and fly forever without looping back to where I started. And, of course, you can't land on planets in X3.

Hi and welcome atan0669 & ameriveaux.

It truly is a great game. Completely open space and you really need to be careful approaching
planets since a lot of them have atmosphere. You will burn up if you're to hot, LOL!

Another great thing in MP is that you can hook up with another player and 1 is piloting
and the other is a gunner. I have never seen that before and it really is a blast.

Hope to see you out there.

Welcome to the board

Yes Mercenary is the latest greatest.

If Vise comes out with another version you have to pay for it

As Jack Dandy says get the demo and try it out to see if you like it.

I think you will agree with everyone on the board here. This is a fantastic game and the $35 is well spent. Vise is the only developer and personally I find it much more agreeable to give my money to a single very hard working developer than pay twice as much and give it to a big corporation. Now that I have been into the game for a few months and know the game I would glady pay $100 for it. Vise is very active in the continued development of the game. He listens to his customers and is constantly improving the game.

Hope to see you out there soon.

The price is only $29.95 according to the website!;)
Also, when I bought it, you got a discount of $5.0 if you had a previous game.

I do agree, I would pay much more for the next one if that helped Vice continue the
excellent work he is doing right now.
