The Black Hole In Vonari

Post by Mecingo »

I want to know how I can get through the thing before I blow up over and over again, I tried entering it faster in hopes I will actaully jump to Andromeda. But I blow up every time. How can I stop this?

Hi, Mecingo.

There is a trick to firing yourself through black hole wormholes and surviving.

Here's the thing: if you are near a black hole, you will die. The only way to survive is to pop yourself right into the wormhole. You'll still take massive damage, but you might survive.

Have you ever noticed that when you jump, you actually appear some distance behind the waypoint? Think about how that might affect your chances of survival.

Also, there might not be a wormhole at the center...are you sure that it's there?

Hi Mecingo and welcome.

Yes, there is a WH in Vonari. As Nigels says, you need to think about your jump technique to
survive this.

I can u2u how I do it if you want.

See ya out there.;)

Thanks for the welcome everyone, I will try to get a method of going into the black hole instead, maybe get a little under a sector away, and build speed at the direct location of the wormhole, in the black hole. Jump drive into into it when close to it might help as well. I might need to buy the fastest engine. If non of my methods work, I'll seek help.

The Wormhole appears to be in the center but it might not be exactly in the center, I'll try different directions, to reach it.

Thanks for the advice.

I decided to try this once more on my second journey to Vonari, I keep failing lol I never had trouble with something in a game like this darn dark hole in my entire life. Something is on the other side, hopefully it doesn't send me to Pearl like many other worm holes.

ship heading of 0 and no pitch,
open nav map
right click on the wormhole (check z value too)
add about 1000 units to the x value (varies with ship iirc)
turn IDS off
hit F2

x adjustment might be a bitty off, been too long since I've done an extreme jump.....

use roughly the same technique anywhere in the game, just get your coords right and remember you reverse thrusters
Enjoy

:o Verb, I thought you needed to adjust the Z coordinate. Since the ship ends its jump heading north* and coasting to a stop ... unless the Z coordinate is adjusted so it doesn't stop short of the wormhole. Am I wrong, here?

* Edit: More importantly, your ship always reappears due south of your jump point.

Well, I misunderstood Marvin's post and wrote this whole thing in response. Maybe you'll find it helpful in understanding this blackhole/wormhole jumping technique more thoroughly. It's also useful for combat microjumping.

Your ship maintains its pitch and heading throughout the duration of the jump (unless pitch or yaw controls are used during the jump). You will always come out of a jump facing the point you are jumping to. If you are flying without any vertical or horizontal drift when you enter the jump, you will fly straight through the jump point without further input shortly after you come out of the jump.

If you are flying due "north," you will come out of your jump due "south" of your jump coordinates. If you are flying due "east," then you will come out of your jump due "west" of your jump coordinates; if southwest, then northeast, etc, ad nauseum. The same is true for your pitch. If you are flying at a pitch of 90 degress, you will come out of your jump at 180 degress from the coordinates; however, you will still be flying at a pitch of 90 degrees.

Without giving too much away, this information can be used to adjust your jump coordinates according to a predetermined pitch and heading so that you will come out of your jump squarely in the center of the black hole (and the wormhole), thereby drastically minimizing the time that your ship takes damage.

Thanks for the help, and one specific hint :)

yeah yeah my instructions were a bit dodgy, I was working from memory....

For the record I started a 3 month contract that has been keeping me busy for a year now, hence why I've not been around much.
