Just to update everyone on this, I should be able to begin testing on this specific platform by the end of this week. At that point, I may be able to offer some steps for a solution. Another step to try in the meantime:

- Do not launch the game from the desktop. Instead, locate the game's binary (filename EvochronLegends.exe) in the installation folder (usually c:\\sw3dg\\EvochronLegends unless you specify a different location). Double click on that file to launch the game from there rather than using the desktop icon.

I've been able to pin down where the problem occurs on certain Alienware systems. For whatever reason, these particular laptops and desktops (and perhaps a few others) can fail to return needed data regarding connected control devices, resulting in the hault. I haven't yet determined exactly what data is lacking, invalid, or incompatible, but I have been able to develop a work-around by simply bypassing the initial automatic control detection system in the game. The game seems to launch and run fine after the detection system is disabled. If you would like to download the patched EXE, use the link below:

Then to install it, replace the old EXE in the game's install folder with the one in the ZIP above. Launch the game as normal using the desktop icon. Be sure to keep the original installer handy in case you want to return to the previous build.
