Just wondering......

I'm thinking of investing in an X52 Pro joystick and want to increase my game list so I can justify the cost of the joystick!

The things we do to fool ourselves.......

There must be hundreds of sims that you could use the X52.

Indeed there are. I was simply polling the community to see if they are playing any "gems" that I might have missed.

I was also hoping the responses might help other players discover games they didn't know exist.

Depends really... I find that for IL-2 there's no reason to use any other controls... ArmA2 with the aircraft... nothing beats an x52... FSX is alright... but I think most people think that FS04 was better... I also use it for Strike Commander (which takes place in and around Turkiye)

I played "Fair Strike" 1 year a go. War chopper game.
Some missions of the game take place in Turkey. Everywhere full of terorists and everything was wrong. Even city names. Veiled women, turbaned men!!!!??????

sometimes i still board my thargoid ship in (JJ)FFE on my eeepc+linux and have fun doing military mission.
i've graduated "elite" but my rank in the military (empire, of course) is still liutenant.
gotta do some more mission.

Lieutenant is a Federation rank in FFE / JJFFE; the equivalent Empire rank is Viscount.

I still play that BTW. I use the DOS/DJGPP/Allegro version of JJFFE (ver 2.8b) on an "antique DOS computer (P-166, No Vidcard, just 2 Mb SVGA, old SoundBlaster card, 192Mb RAM, 2 Gb HD, no modem)" in the other corner of my "computer room".

I was playing Falcon AF 4.0 with my x52 and Track IR Pro4 and then found evechron legends when looking for track IR enhanced games!;)

lately i'm trying GLFFE. a bit confusing since graphic has changed, but sdl based and mirabily rescaled.

will Elite4 ever be compiled?

Depends what sims you want to fly...

X52 is a great HOTAS, however, what you get is what you get.

Thrustmaster Cougar is a much better HOTAS (imho), and you can modify it (not to mention its a F-16 replica

). Yes, it costs a bit more than the x52, but if you want to get hard core into combat simulation, having the ability to modify your stick is useful. Of course, most of the modifications cost as much as the stick itself... so, depends on how much you want to spend, and what you want to do with it.

If you're looking for good flight sims, check out frugalsworld.com for combat sims.

@ marvin: people think FS04 was better because they have it optimized to their systems, and there is already a ton of aftermarket payware to go along with it. FSX is quickly catching up though, and you can optimize it (albeit harder) too.

I Looked at the Thrustmaster Cougar. It might be much better, but I did not like the looks and feel of it and it was to pricy in my opinion!;)

I think the x52's only negative is really the stick's ease of movement... I'd prefer it a bit stiffer... well a lot stiffer.
