Move text / limit size
Is it possible to move the player messageing text? Also the Player info text that comes up when you use the "~" key? My laptop is wide screen so these show up more towards the center than my desktop screen. Thanks for any help.

Not currently, it's actually text rendered to a 3D 'locked' object with a lot of scaling and positioning dependencies (consoles for example). However, you can clear out the text when you want it out of the way with the numpad * key.

Thanks for the info Vice. I had wanted to move the "~" Text some as when I am docked that info shows in the same area as the display so it is a bit hard to read without undocking first. No biggie just wishfull thinking. Thanks anyway.

I could implement a routine where the HUD is turned off while you press that key or something.

That may be good but only if others thought something like that would be useful as well. "Coments from others welcome please."

Maybe it would only do that if a console is open.

How about just repositioning the text? By the way, why again is it displaying player positions? Super-extreme-long-distance-radar?

I would like to be able to move the text as well, I'm working on a cockpit/hud thingie and its "not a big deal" to clear the text with the hotkey, but id like to move it. Maybe have a setting for rows/columns like an HTML table?
0.9 #vertical
0.9 #horizontal
10 #columns
5 #rows

It all looks good on my screen but ... if I needed to move text, I'd prefer it be done the same way you move coordinate and cargo data readouts.

I'd like to see the 3d object it's ocked to become positionable via the guages.txt so we can have a 'message screen' in cockpits

I am working on some changes for the message text. I am moving it up into corner the further and reducing some of the spacing so that it doesn't use so much of the screen space. Some graphical highlighting will also be added.
For positioning, two more lines will be added to the chattext.txt option to set the X and Y position.
10 = Target object vertical position
11 = Target object horizontal position
17 = Target object distance position

That is done with lines 10,11, and 17:I'd like to see the 3d object it's ocked to become positionable via the guages.txt so we can have a 'message screen' in cockpits
