Star size

A few weeks ago, I posted a message about star heating.
I then tried it again, this time with night vision mode on.
That was the first time I saw the real star itself.
I noticed that the stars are all pretty small compared to the planets.
Was this done for a reason?

Mostly just gameplay space for the sector (room for build entities, comets, fuel harvesting, etc), so a range of a Neutron to White Dwarf class type scale (iirc around 50 KM or so diameter at surface, corona and high gravity range being larger).
