Waypoint Marker - How do I set/delete a waypoint?

I currently have no active quests, but there is a waypoint to an asteroid cluster on my map and HUD. Changing my navigation destination doesn't appear to have any effect on the waypoint. How can I get rid of it or manually reset it? Thanks.

If it is a contract waypoint (green), then you either need to travel to the required waypoint and complete the objective, or cancel the contract to delete the objective and clear the waypoint. If it is the nav waypoint (yellow), then changing the destination location in the nav map through mouse clicking on new locations or manually typing in new coordinate values will move it around.

Looks like it disappeared when I quit the game and restarted. Must have been a contract waypoint like you said, although I am pretty sure I didn't have any contracts at the time. Oh well, thanks!
