Where can the latest dedicated server software be downloaded?
[the direct link] no longer seems to be working, and it's not included in the Steam client version. No mention of it in the change logs or main website or downloads.

I'm sure it's an easy fix / hiding somewhere.
Probably in your steamapps folder.

Here it is just encase. Not a virus, your computer won't start sneezing.

It's included with the client in the install folder using the same filename, ELServer.exe

Edit: for now, I've also restored the backup location on the game's website.

Thanks, I have ELServer.exe in the steam appid 398170
But was looking for the EvochronLegacyServer2D.exe
So that it can run headless or as a service.

I tried running the older version I have, in some cases it runs for just a bit then crashes in about 3 seconds.
Other cases it will run, but create a clone of itself and 3 dll files to:
C:\Users\theusername\AppData\Local\Temp\_Launch_EvochronLegacyServer2D\
Though I have a savedir.txt to specify another location.
Since the application does this, and doesn't run from it's actual install location C:\testserver , the PID monitor sees nothing running from that directory, and keeps trying to spawn a new PID, which it does, until the OS eventually crashes.

ELServer.exe is the install program, with the 2D program included in the installer. When you run the installer, both the GPU optimized version and the 2D version will be placed in the install folder.

The temp folder is not the save data folder. The development platform's extraction of temporary files is likely part of its launch process (as well as its subsequent clearing of that folder upon shutdown) and is not related to the save data folder location (which holds persistent files and data content).

So any launch/startup conditions, data file storage, install location, and program version you want to apply will generally need to take these factors into consideration. If you need more information and/or have questions, it'd be best to contact me via e-mail directly (starwraith.com > contact).

Thanks!
I ran the install program and found the files needed.
Do you think there would be a way to make either a -branch or new steam appid for the server portion?
This way, when a new update is released, our steam update script can keep the server updated, instead of manually having to run the installer and move over the files?

I'm not sure how/if that could be done on Steam's side of things. However, if there is a required update for the server program, the program itself will display a notice that an update is necessary.

We run our server programs as a service in a headless OS setup, so GUI notifications won't be seen, but we manually check currently, this would just be much more convenient.
Steam appid packages for client and server are pretty helpful for both sides, for example:
https://steamdb.info/app/251570/ Client
https://steamdb.info/app/294420/ Server
Branches are another way as well, for example:
https://steamdb.info/app/233780/depots/
You can see the various branches available, branches for end users is explained here, not sure how things are done dev side. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD and search for branch

I'll try to keep that in mind to look into further should there be a need for a required update to the server programs in the future.
