I know Miaz, but new players might find it useful to actually have the file and just add it.

Thanks Miaz for that.

@SeeJay... are you going to collect Legacy-compatible mods on your site?

EDIT: SeeJay I just saw your other post about having Legacy mods on your website. That's going to extremely useful! :)

I might seem a bit old, but I don't remember where you place the mods files, I remember we had to create a "mod" folder somewhere, but is it in the sw3dg (saves) folder or in the game folder ??

Can someone point me to a guide or post one here ?

Go to the Download page for the game. From there you can find the download for the Customizing Kit. DL the Kit and peruse the ReadMe file. Lots of good information.

If you're on Steam, make sure you use the actual steamlibrary location of the game, not the pilot save file directory which is usually C:\\sw3dg\\

:o Stand by on this. The Customizing Kit and ReadMe (currently an HTML document) might not be complete and/or updated yet.

Ok this isn't working for me.

Please list step by step how to do this. I am on Windows 10, and have the game via Steam.

Hi OnLashoc,
* Go to the game's steam directory. You can get there by right clicking the game in your steam library and choosing 'Properties'. Click the Local Files tab and then click "Browse Local Files..."
* That will bring you to the game's install directory. This is different from your save directory which should be c:\\sw3dg\\EvochronLegacy , this directory is used for some other things but contains your local pilot save file. Anyway, forget that directory. We're focusing on the game's install directory which you just got to by clicking "Browse Local Files..."
* In this install directory, you want to create a folder called: HUD
* Enter the HUD folder and create a file named chattext.dat and edit that file in notepad. Paste the values from above. Or you can just download the chattext.dat file that is linked about and cut/paste it from your downloads directory into the HUD directory you just created.
* This will be same for any mods you get. You'll put them into the appropriate directory inside the game's install folder.

Addendum: The data directory, c:\\sw3dg\\evochronlegacy is where your save files are, recommended to backup regularly. Also, some tools, like the Navigator tool from Marvin work in this directory once you set up the savedata settings, but that's for another post. Basically, you can have EL export plaintext data that other tools can read and use for things like a map, dashboard on a 2nd monitor, stuff like that.

This is where you want to put any mods (Steam users):
\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\Evochron Legacy

\"We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction!\"

Thank you!

That worked, the instructions above say to "create a file with notepad and name it to chattext.dat" I did that and it saved as a .txt file, not a .dat file.

Again thanks alot!

When you open a file in notepad and then save it it will default to .txt but if you open the bottom window you will see an option to save as "ALL types" or something like that. By doing this it will save it in the same format as the original. If it is done correctly it will say "there is a file by that name already" so you know you will be replacing the original file.

Aren't all screens Wide Screen these days?
I don't quite understand why it would need to be changed (since i can't run the game to see) - unless one was using multiple displays maybe.
Or is the goal just to move it all the way to the left?

Not all screens are wide. Especially for desktop computers ... some of which use older monitors.
