Evochron Mercenary 2.108 available...

Version 2.108 is now available for download. As usual, the installer can also be used to update older versions of the game. It can be downloaded here:

This update includes the following improvements:

- Player-to-player contract system now uses a one stage 'Accept' option for arranging contracts.
- Fix for items and credits getting lost if two players are in different trade console modes and both click submit.
- Initial weapon power supply for lower class civilian ships increased to make it easier to destroy drone ship in training.
- Target MDTS lead indicator shadow better calibrated with primary indicator at edges of screen.
- Multiplayer text chat frame relocated to appropriate location in weapon lab templates menu.
- Quick accept option added to the confirm sale of item prompt, use Enter key.
- Asteroid mining now functions properly in nebula clouds and planetary rings.
- Added option to manually disable water shader dynamic cube mapping.
- 'Max Vsync' screen mode options renamed to 'No Vsync'.
- Several minor bug fixes.

You're welcome. And if you don't want to deal with the prompt at all, you can place the attached file in the game's install folder and it should just bypass the entire confirm sale prompt.

"Training" ships probably need some kind of beam cannon ... even the low-yield Flare Beam should be enough. In ten minutes time (as a n00b Mercenary) I still couldn't reduce the target's shield any lower than yellow.

And perhaps it might help if the target was a Talon or Arrow. Mine was a Phoenix which, for some reason, always seems to be the hardest ship to take down.

Thanks Vice! How do we disable water cube mapping? I didn't see a menu button. Do I edit sw.cfg or add a text file?

create a watereffect.txt file with a Zero in it an place it in the EM game folder. I already asked Vice this so I figured I'd save him the redudancy. :P

thanks for the update ... that "check for updates" feature works

One thing I've been missing is the "Paid ____" message you get at the bottom of the preview window when mousing over items in your cargo bay. I thought it might be because I'm flying military frames mostly now but i swapped back to a civ frame and i still don't get it.

No big deal I guess but it was a nice reminder when selling stuff.

I tried the noconfirm file and it works great! Then I thought HUMMM I just might pick an item I did not mean to and POOFF it's gone (lol) so I put that file on hold.:)

Thank you, RC. A quick test with cube mapping disabled shows a framerate boost from 10-12 to 15-17 on Talison, with no noticeable loss of visual detail. Not much, but every bit helps on my elderly box. Also, my FPS usually pick up a bit more after playing for a while, so that could go higher.

I don't particularly need to set any 'flags' in a .txt file to improve play (my PC is QUITE fast, thankyouverymuch), but there are suggestions on 'flags' to set for params saved to a .txt file, every here-and-there for things...

Would it be possible to post some kind of 'table' on the forum somewhere for these options without affecting MP gameplay?

That last bit, is most important - especially those of us that play PvP.
