To those of you who use rudder pedals

Just last week I picked up a set of Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals, and Mercenary is the first game that I've used them with somewhat extensively. I've been using them to control roll, as ever since I picked up a joystick to play X-Wing way back when, right and left on a joystick always seems to be defaulted to pitching left and right in every space sim type game I've played. I'm just used to it.

So I'm wondering how other people use their pedals. Do you use them in the same way that I do, or do you use the more traditional method of having them control your left and right rudders, pitching you left and right?
