IND vs ALC or FND

Vice (or anyone), if I help one faction against another (I'm an INDEPENDENT), will I become Public Enemy #1 with the 'other' guy? Permanently? Temporarily? Not at all?

You can temporarily become a target while you remain in the area (or largely ignored), eventually fading back to a 'normal' independent state. Hence, it supports opportunistic actions, primarily to keep behaviors such as pirating other ships practical for players interested in that type of gameplay (per requested design parameters years ago when the IND framework was developed).

You can certainly self-inflict reputation changes manually if you so choose though.
