[EL] How to get rid of the animated joysticks

Post by WhiteFang »

I could not see from here how to get rid of the animated joysticks?

I am using the 2 cockpits Vice converted for me (having finally found a gauge setup that works well with them).

There are two options available. First, the objects themselves can be replaced with 'blanks'. In the same custom \hud folder where positioning and movement values can be specified, use the following filenames for each:

ccpit-joystick.x
ccpit-throttle.x

With those, you can import a one sided plane surface facing away from the pilot or just a really small plane/triangle that isn't visible. These weren't listed in the customizing kit, so I have added them.

Second, you can position the default structures out of view with the 'joystickthrottle.txt' file option for positioning and movement. On the third and seventh line for the Z positions, you can include a really large number like 400000 to place them out of view and out of the clipping range.

Thanks Vice!

Ok I will position them out of range.

Is there by any chance a way to make the 3 cockpit screens slightly less opaque?

That's a fixed part of the engine (specific additive blend mode that isn't flexible), unfortunately. However, if you are rendering the holograms in front of another solid surface in the background, the texture used for that solid surface can be changed to black so that the holograms render above it more clearly without light reflections on the surface behind them.
