I started playing around a bit and came across being able to do this though I'm sure there's probably a better way to do it. Very simple to pull off. As someone who explores and likes to see the sights, it's helps give a bit more immersion. Problems are to be had with it because of background washout which I'm finding the trade off acceptable for now. :)

Doing this can be a bit hard on the eyes at times. Keep that in mind. Hoping to sort some of that out soon.

Download the black and white images and then save a copy of for each of the associated filenames.

*EDIT* For semi-transparent background that takes care of a good amount of the washout, download the two Grey images in place of the White image.

Added semi-transparency files for download to fix some of the washout.

Going to see what I can and cannot do with the nav/inv/build/trade menus. I want to see how far I can mod things before possibly bugging Vice for some more customization options/settings like the HUD.

Thanks! I'm using it. Now the only thing I would like is a seamless extra zoom level, (not the zoom button) but that's probably something for Vice to implement.

I agree on one of your other postings about wanting to be able to zoom a bit more. It doesn't look like the ability is readily available to move stuff around or modify much beyond the UI as it sits. I'd like to see getting the menu screens centered on screen and all of the elements within modifiable. Getting the mini-nav and zoomed in map centered on screen, with all of the controls setup around, would be a very neat layout.

I suggest you include the dotsize.txt in your mod (6 and 8) for bigger dots.

It sounds interesting but the links don't work (The server at i.imgur.com is taking too long to respond.) and the semi trans link isn't there! ;)
