Orbiter Planets Go 3D

Post by Marvin »

For those of you who have never tried Orbiter, a word of caution: it's not a game ... it's not even a simplified simulation.

Orbiter is as close to reality as you'll probably get. Just flying off the planet and making it into orbit is a challenge. Reaching the moon is a challenge. Docking with the space station is a challenge. Making it to Mars is an even bigger challenge.

In Orbiter 2010, that's about all you did: take off, reach space, dock with a station, make your way to another planet and land successfully. Planets were flat. Not very interesting ... getting there was not just half the fun, it was almost all the fun.

Orbiter 2014 is currently in Beta phase. Open Beta. Now the planets have height. They have features. Leastwise, Earth, the moon and Mars have features. After all, Orbiter is still in Beta.
