New Digital Compas readout

Post by PaulB »

Does anyone know how to reposition the new Digital readout on the Compass??

I've modified the b2-compass.png compass area of the image to display a modified (larger) compass image and the new Digital display is hidden under the Heading text.
I'm not sure what to do to reposition the Digital display so it's below the Time.

Here is what my Compass area looks like.

New Digital Compas readout

Post by PaulB »

Got the info from Vice.

hudtext.txt = 1st value sets the timer's horizontal position
2nd value sets the timer's vertical position (offset from the default location)
3rd value sets the timer's distance position (offset from the default location)
4th value sets the center gunsight's text readouts horizontal position
5th value sets the center gunsight's text readouts vertical position
6th value sets the digital compass indicator's horizontal position
7th value sets the digital compass indicator's vertical position
8th value sets the digital compass indicator's distance position

All of the values will be 0 by default. So you’ll just need to change them from 0 to what you want to try for placement. In this case, if you want to move the digital compass down, you’ll want to edit line 7. So leave all the other lines at 0 in the file you create and just change line 7 to different values to test relocating it.

New Digital Compas readout

Hi

Firstly be aware that you need to create/edit a file called hudtext.txt NOT the one called hudtext.dat (which lets you put your location coordinates and shield % values on your cockpit HUD!

This is my version - to increase the size of the digital display and position it between the normal compass and the timer. It might save you a bit of time getting a feel for the numbers. As you can see there are more values

0 1st value sets the timer's horizontal position
-0.3 2nd value sets the timer's vertical position (offset from the default location)
0 3rd value sets the timer's distance position (offset from the default location)
0 4th value sets the center gunsight's text readouts horizontal
0 5th value sets the center gunsight's text readouts vertical position
0 6th value sets the digi-compass's horizontal position
-2.2 7th value sets the digi-compass's vertical position (offset from the default location)
-4 8th value sets the digi-compass's distance position (offset from the default location)

For your future ref here's my hudtext.dat:

1 enables or disables the center text, 0 = disable, 1 = enable
100 red color (0-255), 3rd is for green, 4th is for blue
255
255
1 selects which font style to use, 0 for bold (default), 1 for thin
0 activates cargo information, 0 = disable, 1 = enable - cargo appears as number code
394 X position of the cargo text (0-1023)
390 Y position of the cargo text (0-1023)
1 activates location information, 0 = disable, 1 = enable
211 X position of the location text (0-1023)
392 y position of the location text (0-1023)
15 activates and sets spacing of numerical shield indicators
402 X position of the numerical shield indicators (0-1023)
425 X position of the numerical shield indicators (0-1023)

I hope this helps
