EM 2.088 I think my pilot save just ate itself

Was at reload at last save death screen and was unable to reload.
At the pilot selection screen pilot #1(the only one I was using) just shows a ":" and when trying to select it the screen flashes black and ends up on same screen, no pilot stats are shown.

just checked, I am able to make a new pilot.

Now I am not all that invested in this pilot(just started, ~3 missions into the quest)
However I did archive the sw3dg dir and am willing to make it avialible if needed for any sort of post-mortem inquery as to why it killed itself.

windows 2008r2
running evochron 2.088 as unprivlidged normal use(that is, I had to fiddle with permisions)
had trackir set up but no longer using it(noted because I think I never unset the head tracking button)

If you'll e-mail me the profile, I'd be interested in taking a look at it (and any related files that share the same initial filename). Almost sounds like something interrupted the game while in the process of loading and/or saving the profile somewhere along the line (ie like a security program decided to run a scan or something).
