Hidden Containers

Evochron Legacy: Hidden containers are broken where they do not appear on any of the radar (2D or 3D) ship screens even with it switched to 10K range nor do containers appear visually in space even with night vision enabled.

I used 3, then 6, then 12 nav map markers trying to triangulate the location and have overlapped my search area multiple times within a 2 HOUR time period. I have followed the search instructions from YouTube and online Evochron guides precisely.

The following link is for this same topic in the Steam discussion I posted on 04/22/17: http://steamcommunity.com/app/398170/di ... 936458303/

Without specifics, it's difficult to help to determine what may be happening. But if you are getting reports from a crew member, then they are there and you're likely just never getting close enough. Check to make sure you are flying extremely precise flight patterns in your search (heading -and- pitch), if you miss even by a small margin, you can be significantly out of range by the time you get there. They can be very hard to find and are intentionally that way, especially early on if you are just trying to find them 'blind' by flying search patterns. It is possible, but still pretty difficult and something you may have not have the patience for. You may want to wait until you have more adequate search equipment to hunt them down if you haven't managed to locate them within a timeframe you think is enough.

If you want help on finding a specific container, you can interact with other players for assistance or we can mark this thread with a spoiler alert and post the exact sector you are trying to find them it and I/we can provide more specific guidance on where/how to find them.

Possible Spoiler: You can now mod the HUD for accurate pitch (the compass already gives you an accurate heading). But, if you still have problems finding hidden containers, deploy a sensor station in the general area indicated by your science officer. You'll see a purple dot if the container is within sensor range.

P.S. The second two quests provide a clue as to using the sensor station:
We are receiving a message relayed from
CentCom. Naval Command orders all pilots to
RTB. Navy pilots are to report to their home
units. CRF pilots should dock at CentCom for
debriefing by Intelligence personnel.

Before departing the sector, you should
first deploy a sensor station and scan for
any stragglers.
Scanning for stragglers is actually a ploy. What you'll see is a purple dot, indicating a hidden object. ;)

Even with digital readouts, trying to find cloaked hidden containers by sight and flight lines can still be very challenging. Hunting for cloaked containers with nothing more than direction values is not impossible, just impractical and time consuming. They are designed to be found faster with ship equipment that makes the process more efficient and effective. Simply use the guidance provided by a science crew member to pin down a general area to search, then -after- that step, place a sensor station near that location to pin down where to search.

So to the OP, you may want to wait until your ship is better equipped to search for objects like that. Once you have, in order from most effective to least effective, a deploy constructor and/or a long range radar system and/or a navigator crew member, you may want to wait on trying to hunt for such hidden containers. Being able to place sensor stations is the best option, so I'd likely suggest waiting until you can afford a deploy constructor. Also, the long range radar system will double the detection range of cloaked hidden containers, making them significantly easier to find on radar. It also further increases the range based on your navigator crew member's skill, doubling what they contribute to your detection range.

Probes are good too. They can usually be had cheaper than a deploy constructor and they take up missile hardpoints instead of equipment slots. The trade-off is that they cover a smaller volume of space but, if memory serves, they can be launched where sensor stations can't be deployed. Don't hold me to that last bit though. I haven't checked in a while.
