This has been bugging me for a while now and I guess I just gotta get it off my chest.
Not a single thing shared in this thread so far is a SteamID.
What you are all sharing are
"Steam Friend Names".
What makes the difference you ask? Well a
steam friends name can be
altered easily and
would make your post invalid.
A SteamID would not.
Extra points for FotonCat using the
Steam Custom Link which for the intents and purposes of this thread do
hold true to the condition of being a permanent identifier.
Let me show you what I mean.
This is a Steam Id: STEAM_0:1:118569185
That steam id in particular belongs to
Keeper1st
Then there is also
SteamID64 which looks like such:
76561198197404099
In Keeper1st's specific case that also happens to be his steam community profile page link.
Because he
doesn't have a specific custom link set up.
It also means that much like
Fotoncat's post this works:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198197404099 -> Again Keeper1st's profile.
Now the SteamID you referred to is
your Steam Friends Name. Which is
changeable. The
above values are not.
Thats why they are the preferable selection as for example looking up some of the things you guys posted.
I was greeted with multiple select. Which means I can't easily know which one you are.
For example looking up "Keeper1st" despite being a very exact name.
I was prompted with:
Keeper1st Nevada United States -> Obviously the one
keeper_first_try -> Dunno this chap
[WWP]PeaceKeeper[1st]™ United Kingdom (Great Britain) -> not him either
This makes things VERY confusing for me. Or people like me.
So I am going to put this straight because
I can.
Keeper1st:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198197404099
Solarwarden: No one exists under that name. 2 Accounts under SolarWarden and I can't even tell.
Matchbox2022: (warning profile pic is semi-explicit content)

XenoBear:

Walker:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/WGS_Walker or
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198039847279
FotonCat:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/fotoncat or
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198067660640
And SteamID wise: (to sooth my mind)
Keeper1st: STEAM_0:1:118569185
Solarwarden: No Idea, Can't even find his account
Matchbox2022: STEAM_0:0:11810748
XenoBear: STEAM_0:1:49757283
Walker: STEAM_0:1:39790775
FotonCat: STEAM_0:0:53697456
This isn't a public shaming or anything like that.
I am just trying to explain the difference so you understand not to make that mistake again.
Your steam friends name on average becomes pointless within a year as many people like changing their name often and repeatedly.
Therefore steamID, steamID64 or steam community custom link are the best ways of sharing your steam profile with others.
Saying your steam friends name is currently all you guys posted. (except for FotonCat) And is mostly pointless if you ever decide to change it. (Like SolarWarden)
Because your post would become invalid. Actually in all technicality none of you posted your SteamID.
So I guess this thread is pure madness.
