Evochron Mercenary version 1.188 is now available for download and includes the improvements and fixes listed below. This update is required for multiplayer compatibility.

The installer also works as an updating program for older versions of the game. It can be downloaded at: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmerce ... nloads.htm

Version 1.188 offers the following improvements, fixes, and changes:

- AI ships now use beam weapons.
- Several performance improvements.
- AI not following orders properly in war zones fixed.
- Array error message occuring after deleting all text lines fixed.
- Hangar storage inventory duplication when building new stations in close proximity fixed.
- Inventory items in war zones now update in single player using the same system as multiplayer.
- Sensor indicators on nav map now render with proper transparency with planet city indicators.
- Players can now specify unique textures for each type of small ship frame in the game.
- Station detonator system updated to not effect players docked in other sectors.
- Physics system updated for more consistent thruster behavior at high speed.
- Critical alarm is now played when a fulcrum torpedo is launched nearby.
- Quadrant map can now be zoomed in for a more legible view.
- Inbound missile indicators appearing when HUD is off fixed.
- Shader system updated for custom player designed cities.
- Custom imported ship designs enabled for external views.
- Font set expanded to support German characters.
- Player built station capacities increased (server).
- Improved cloud layer scaling.
- Tech data text updated.
- Several minor bug fixes.


The new zoom option for the quadrant map should make viewing clan territory statistics much easier. Click on the 'Zoom Map' button to activate. If you need to view the bottom of the map (which can be obscured by the cockpit displays), you can use the mouse view mode or 3D head tracking to change the view with the map still visible.

The performance improvements should help increase the overall framerate significantly on low end systems (while likely improving performance slightly on high end systems, or pretty much staying the same). On my low end test system, the framerate more than doubled.

The customizing kit has also been updated for the new individual ship texture options. The revised kit is available in the downloads section.

I was flying 1.188b in the Arvoch WZ, last night. I found that either the RNG for the station contract cycle, or my rank/status had an effect on the rescue pod missions. It appeared to occur, whether I used a player-built stations or the hard-wired game/sim stations. I was being given 3-4 other mission choices, along with the pod missioins;
the pod missions appearing in cycles of three (3). Once I completed the last (#3), the mission offerings became more "normal" (ie: Conflict/Patrol/Escort/Crate). Not that I am complaining, you understand.:) The C-bills are good and mission completions even better! Nothing wrong with keeping the front-line troopies resupplied with the beans and bullets, bringing them home, and locating or picking up the crates the Navy boys seem to miss!;)
I installed the release version of 1.188 this AM. Flew numerous missions in the Arvoch. The incidence of pod missions appear to have been normalised. Specifically, the 3-cycle pod mission stated earlier; did not repeat. All appears to be working well in my part of the EM universe.:cool:

Smoke signals (lol) in space? These stayed in place through 4 to 5 missions in this area. Maybe delayed updates?:o

Played with the new update yesterday. I noticed a big difference with my framerate! Before my low spec system could barely cope with the game... now it looks much smoother. Thanks Vice!

Flying build 1.188 release ver. this evening, chasing after Gorf to affirm a "wonky planet" (his words) sighting he made in both MP and SP roles. Finally got to Andromeda, only to find that there aren't any contracts available at any of the stations located there. Also, the commodities, equipment, and weapons available for purchase, at all of the stations, had [0] zero credit values appended. Is this function by design, a grievous bug, or am I missing something ?
