Is there a way to see the full text of a contract after I've accepted it? I'm having trouble finding a navpoint but I don't see a way to auto lock onto the nav point so I can jump, and the only way I can find to look at contracts is the flight/event log which isn't very helpful.

Yes, click on the 'Current Contract' button in the inventory console. The navpoint for a contract will be on the nav map after you accept (colored green). The nav marker is also automatically set to that location when you accept a contract. But if you lose the location, you can simply right mouse click on the green waypoint indicator on the nav map to reset the nav marker to its location.

What Vice said. Sometimes (like when you accept a contract to intercept an enemy capital ship) it's a good idea to place an offset jump point so you don't jump right into the middle of the action. Easy enough to do since there's a blue box depicted on the Nav map, indicating the location of the enemy ships.
