EM Newbie here

Hello there!

I'm an European player, new to Evochron Mercenary. I've been playing and figuring out how things work for three days now, and I've already read some amazing guides here.

I plan to continue playing single-player for now, but I'm curious about the multiplayer servers, so maybe I'll join a 24/7 server soon. Is there a server where are the most of you (this forum's community) ?

Also, I'v been installing some mods and everything it's working fine for now. However, I can't download the Maximilien HUD & Cockpit due to problems with the download page. Could someone tell me where can I get both the hud and the cockpit? I'll post this on Maximilien's thread too, just in case. :)

Anyway, I love this game, I never played anything like this, except for EVE Online. I think Evochron is better as a simulator and I love that, besides, EvE's too expensive...

Fly Safe!

 Of the available servers, some are located in Europe, others in the U.S. and there's even one in Australia. Ergo, some servers are busier than others, depending on the time of day. The easiest way to find out which server is currently busy is to right-click on each one on the list. Once you've logged on, you can then press the tilde key (~) to get a list of the current players.

Hello Erethrian. Welcome to the game/sim and community! The Evo-verse is currently supported by about 6 game server platforms. As Marvin has said - some here, some there. The [SW] Clan is currently populating the Evochron Horizons server as our home-base. There are other Clans, likewise located. Many independent pilots. All are welcome to come fly with us sometime. :) Hope to see yaz out there! :D

Thanks for your responses! ;)

I've been completing some contracts and I love it. The races are awesome, I hated them until I saw the IDS multipliers ^^'.

I have a question, though, about the "game's story". I'm sure I was told to go to New Hope, but the thing is, when I go there, how can I find the city where I have to go? It doesn't appear on the contracts section so I ask.

Anyway, I've been thinking about joining a server the next week. And I'll try a couple or three of them. Do you play in different servers (even if you play the most of the time in the same one)? And the progress in there can be saved or is it saved automatically?

At this moment I'm trying to decide which path will I take, but I love races, mining, exploring... I love space so much! :D I think I'll keep doing everything, haha.

Again, thanks for the replies!

Regards,

Erethrian

It tells you to go to the main city on New Hope.

All main cities are marked with [x] on the map.

Also, when you do the race contract in the IMG, it must be done in Single Player.
In MP all the races are between real persons, not AI ships!

Good luck!;)

Argh! I found myself thinking about those "[X] [ ]" before going to bed. Haha, I appreciate the help! Looking forward to MP races and learn how to win them, I'm sure it's not the same against real pilots. :)

 AI pilots wait for you to enter the track first and don't shoot you when you're ahead. You can't always expect that from a real pilot.

I've been playing these days, doing mostly contracts/races inside Sapphire to practice, so I don't have enough money to buy another frame but the first one (Talon, I started as a Merc.) yet. Here comes my question, if I want to be able to keep doing everything (from mining to combat), and I prefer being kind of a "scout/support" pilot if I'm involved in combat situations, is it worth to buy a better frame ( let's say a Ferret or an Aries) for SP and MP (I haven't played in MP yet)? What do you think?

Good hunting!

As just a scout/support role you are really limiting your options of what the game has to offer! I suggest you do the IMG Quest and make some credits first and upgrade along the way and then once you are comfortable with a particular frame and weapons you can decide what to use that best fits your role you want to play!....Also get your military rank up you might find that some of the military frames suits your role as a scout/support role better then any of the civillian frames!....;)

Yeah I was thinking about working on my military rank just to get some of the military frames and try turn rates, max velocitie, etc. I'll make some credits first, then. As I've been practicing flying maneuvers (Inertial, IDS, races) and some of the game's mechanics, now I'm going out of Sapphire. I'll try to complete the IMG quests and do some trading/mining. Do you recommend a particular system/trading route for a rookie like me? :P

And I think I'll alternate SP and MP. I'll try to join a MP server tomorrow, and see how it goes.

Anyway, thank you for your help!

Fly safe!
